Creating your first Digital Label

Learn how to create a new Product or Media

Getting started

To create your first digital label in info.link, you typically begin by adding a new Product. A Product is a Page linked to a product’s unique EAN/GTIN number. This number ensures that the digital label is compliant with GS1 Digital Link standards.

You can also create a Media (e.g. a print advert without a EAN number), which works in a similar fashion.

Step 1 – Open the Library

  1. Click the Create button at the top of the page.

  2. The Library opens. Here, you’ll find all the items you can create in info.link, e.g.:

    • Products

    • Media

    • Templates

    • Modules

At the top of the Library, you can also filter or search for specific items.

Step 2 – Select a Product

  1. Click on the Product card in the Library.

  2. A dialog opens, explaining what a Product is.

  3. In the top-right corner of the dialog, click Create to continue.

Step 3 – Enter product details

A new dialog will guide you through entering key information:

  • EAN / GTIN number

    • Enter a 14-digit EAN/GTIN (the new GS1 Digtial Link is based on the EAN-14 standard).

    • If you only have …

      • a 13-digit EAN, please manually add one zero “0” at the beginning to create a 14-digit EAN/GTIN.

      • a 12-digit EAN, please manually add two zeros “00” at the beginning to create a 14-digit EAN/GTIN.

    • info.link checks the number against the Verified by GS1 service:

      • If the GTIN is found, you know it’s registered. This may also automatically extract the title found in GS1’s database.

      • If not, you can still create the Product. This check is only for guidance – e.g. to highlight that you may have mistyped the GTIN.

  • Product title

    • This is the name shown at the top of the digital label.

    • Use the exact product name as printed on the packaging.

  • Optional: Select a Template

    • If a relevant Template already exists, you can assign it now.

    • This speeds up setup, as the Product Page will immediately inherit the Template’s layout and Modules.

Step 4 – Create the Product

When you’re ready:

  1. Review the details you entered.

  2. Click Create Product in the bottom-right corner of the dialog.

info.link will then generate the Product Page, which you can start editing right away.

Next steps

From here, you can:

  • Add or adjust Modules to customize your Product Page.

  • Assign or update a Template if you didn’t select one during creation.

  • Download the automatically generated GS1 Digital Link QR code for your packaging artwork.
